Sunlit Waters of Clear Lake by Bobbi Sinha-Morey
In the sunlit waters
I swim with my father
him floating idyllically
his face upturned to
the sky as we stay
close to the dock
watching a great blue
heron wade to the
shore its long legs
so skinny as it steps
over pebbles, turns
over shells. We see
his great wings as
he slowly takes flight
flying above the lake
to an isle on the other
side. In the warmth of
the late red sun we
wait before evening
comes while the lake
is still calm and end
our swim listening
to the birds in the
twilit heavens.
